ZOMATO CEO Deepinder Goyal claims that his unconventional job posting has attracted over 10,000 job applications.

The food delivery startup founder had on November 20 advertised for the post of chief of staff, to be posted at the company headquarters in Gurugram, and the candidate will not be paid a salary for one year. On the other hand, they need to pay a hefty fee of ₹2 million (£18,726.97).

However, from the second year the candidate will get an annual compensation exceeding ₹5 million (£46,817.43).

The position seeks candidates with “hunger” and “empathy”, but not looking for a “lot of experience”.

Goyal’s post soon went viral and social media users slammed his offer as being “exploitative” and a “paid internship”. Some accused him of trying to exploit the prevailing widespread youth unemployment in the country.

One user @theskindoctor13 remarked: “Even Narayana Murthy seems like a saint after reading this.”
