Arsenal seems to be impressed by Leicester City’s Belgian-born midfielder Youri Tielemans with his price tag likely to go down but it is also true that Tielemans’s transfer saga has been going on for a long time now and he hasn’t looked to leaving City yet, Football365.com has reported.
For the 25-year-old footballer, however, there could be a concern involved as well as it is just over a week before the transfer window closes.
Tielemans’s current contract at City ends in 2023.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have been through a successful summer but are still in the hunt for a winger and centre midfielder, the report added.
Earlier in August, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said that “players need to leave” before they sign anybody else.
“We are really active as you can see with incomings and outgoings.
“Everything is still open, it’s a long window, a lot has happened, it’s incredible how much business the clubs have done across the Premier League and it shows how competitive it is and this season is not going to stop that.
“Players are going to have the need to leave, some others to move and everything is open still,” he said.
Tielemans is reportedly valued at £30m this summer but Leicester haven’t yet received a bid for him.
Het Nieuwsblad (via Sport Witness) reported that Arsenal are ‘charmed’ by Tielemans even though they are yet to make an offer to sign him.
They said Leicester have actually demanded €45 million (£37 million) for Tielemans and rival clubs consider this to be ‘far too high’.
