In India, the common man often alleges that while he/she is penalised by the traffic police for not obeying the rules, the officers get away despite flouting the norms. But a traffic policeman in the RT Nagar area of Bengaluru in the southern state of Karnataka did something this week that would help his fraternity to regain the public’s trust.
The cop booked another policeman for not wearing the right helmet while riding a two-wheeler and the picture of one policeman slapping a fine on another for not obeying the traffic rules went viral on social media.
The RT Nagar police unit tweeted the picture on Monday (17), saying, “Good evening. Half helmet case booked against police. (Sic)”

The accused policeman was found riding a gearless two-wheeler wearing a half helmet.
The netizens praised the traffic police for the act but there were also people who called it a photo-op.
“Sir this has to be done more. I see many cops taking pillion cops without helmet and many cops letting them go by,” one user said.

“He looks so happy. What a great photo opportunity. Now how about doing actual traffic management which is supposed to be your core responsibility,” another user, who was not convinced, said pointing out the fact that the accused policeman was smiling.

Some complained that many people escape the law despite wearing half helmets and that made them believe that the action taken against a policeman for wearing such a helmet was nothing more than a publicity stunt.
“Although we certainly like to appreciate your efforts, we don’t feel like appreciating because there are 100’s of people who drive with half helmet and I don’t see any of them getting caught. This certainly makes us think your actions are just publicity stunts,” said one user.
