Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has expressed her disappointment with an alleged Russian propaganda to discourage its citizens from shifting base to the US amid the ongoing Ukraine war.
The Czech-American veteran, who will turn 66 this month, responded to a video shared by US journalist Josh Marshall that showed the enactment of various allegedly anti-American scenes that take place on board a plane with a Russian family moving to the US, “the freest country in the world”.
Sharing the clip, Marshall said, “Russian propaganda film to dissuade people from abandoning Russia for USA. Portrays USA as gay-loving PC hell where whites literally have to bow down to swaggering black people so they can have all the good stuff.

Navratilova, who is seen expressing her opinions on issues, also reacted to the video. The former tennis player, who is openly lesbian, said, “Wow. This is crazy bullshit even by Russian standards,” she remarked.

She has time and again slammed negative portrayals and views of gay people and also voiced concerns over Russia’s stance against the LGBT community.
Navratilova even found a sympathiser on the issue in Russian tennis player and current world No.11 Daria Kasatkina who came out as a lesbian earlier this year. Shedding light on Russia’s state of affairs, she slammed the Russian state Duma deputy Biysultan Khamzaev for saying that she took the decision to come out in order to better her chances of changing nationality.
Kasatkina has also been critical of Russia’s war in Ukraine and wished the conflict to stop as soon as possible.
