HE has strongly backed Nupur Sharma, the now suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member, over her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad. Geert Wilders, a right-wing parliamentarian from the Netherlands has said time and again that Sharma did no wrong by uttering the words she did and claimed that he even received death threats from Muslims for his stance.
However, the Party for Freedom leader, who also said recently that he respects Hinduism more than Islam, got upset when the Indian ambassador to the Netherlands allegedly refused to meet him and called it a shame.

Wilders, 58, tweeted on Wednesday (15) saying, “I try to get a meeting with Ambassador Reenat Sandhu of India in The Hague for a meeting to express my strong support for #NupurSharma but the Ambassador seems unwilling to meet. Excuses all the time. What a shame.”

Twitter was divided over Wilders’s frustration. While some felt that it was indeed shameful on part of the Indian envoy to refuse meeting the Dutch politician, there were others who opined that the Indian ambassador had no business meeting a political opponent of the current ruling party of the Netherlands.
Entire Indian public already know it, and appreciate it.

Sir in India you are a hero. Shameful on the part of the Ambassador to refuse meeting you. We appreciate your bold stance

Sorry, but an Indian official should have no business meeting a political opponent of the current ruling party. Would it be okay if the Indian ambassador to the US suddenly meets with Donald Trump today? Some things should be kept professional.

Actually it’s the opposition leader who wants to meet our ambassador and not the other way round. Even courtesy requires that the ambassador should meet. He may agree or disagree with the views is different. Modi went to Pakistan didn’t he.

You have already expressed your support to Nupur Sharma on Twitter and had received good support. Why do you want to meet the Ambassador now? This raises suspicion on your original intent. Are you trying to trap GOI into a controversy?
