Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who is busy focusing on the transfer to make his side better, praised the Red Devils after the former champions picked their second straight win in the ongoing Premier League by beating Southampton 1-0 at St Marys Stadium.
The win came after Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday (22) — their first win in the league after two back-to-back defeats, including a humiliating 0-4 loss against Brentford.
Against Southampton, Bruno Fernandes made the difference as he put his side decisively ahead in the 55th minute with a slick touch. The win saw Man United going up to the eighth position in the league with six points from four outings.
Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for Manchester United in the 55th minute with a slick first-time finish.
Speaking after the match, ten Hag said, “Not only from Bruno, don’t get me wrong it was a fantastic finish, but I think it was the best part of us. That is how I want us to play.”
The Dutch said on a pleasing note that the team learnt from its previous mistakes, like those made against Brentford.
“I think the players learnt some lessons from Brentford. We were more compact on the long balls. ”
“Of course, we were really happy. The goal we created, we could have made more. You hope to have more control in the last 30 minutes of the game.”
While they won by a solitary goal, Manchester United had created several golden opportunities in the first half but failed to find the finishing touch.
Ten Hag’s men next take on Leicester City at King Power Stadium on September 2.
