Indian food delivery company Zomato found itself flooded with requests for food delivery on the New Year’s Eve (31), so much so that none other than its chief executive officer jumped in to manage the situation.

Deepinder Goyal decided to don the mantle of a food delivery agent to support his staff members and shared his experience of the day through a series of tweets.

In his first post, Goyal said that he turned into an agent for the evening.

“Going to deliver a couple of orders on my own right now. Should be back in an hour or so,” he said.

The Zomato boss even changed his bio to “delivery boy” for Zomato and Blinkit, a quick commerce firm which it acquired in June last year.

According to a report by NDTV Food, Goyal’s first delivery order took him to the office of his company. He posted a picture of himself wearing the company’s signature uniform — the red jacket with its logo on front.

A few hours later, the CEO was back in the office and said that he delivered as many as four orders in the evening, including one to an elderly couple who were celebrating the evening with their grandchildren.

Goyal was happy to announce that Zomato reached new milestones on the last day of 2022, with the number of the day’s orders going past the total orders received on the first three years of the food-delivery app.

He also said that the staff members at Zomato were surviving on glucose and caffeine on the hectic day and he thanked all, including customers, restaurant and delivery partners, and the team for a successful 2022.
