The player had a close shave as he broke the windscreen of the car to escape.
A video has surfaced showing Pant, visibly injured with blood in his face, with some people who believably rescued him. The cricketer is seen in a traumatic condition with a blanket wrapped around him.
The sportsperson sustained serious injuries all over his body and could take some time to recover.
Ashok Kumar, director general of Uttarakhand Police, confirmed that Pant was alone in the car at the time of the accident and broke the windscreen to escape.
“Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant’s car met with an accident at around 5:30 am. The incident took place at Mohammedpur Jat near Roorkee. According to what Pant said, he dozed off while driving and as a result the car collided with the divider and caught fire. He was moved to the Roorkee hospital from where he has now been shifted to Dehradun,” he told the media.
Dr Ashish Yagnik of Max Hospital said the cricketer has minor injuries and is currently being treated for a waist injury.
He is out of danger and conscious.
