Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma welcome their second child ‘Akaay’, a boy

The ace cricketer has skipped the ongoing Test series against England citing personal reasons.

ACE India batter Virat Kohli on Tuesday (20) announced on his social media accounts that he and his actor-producer wife Anushka Sharma have been blessed with a baby boy named ‘Akaay’.

“With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay & Vamika’s little brother into this world! We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives. We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time. Love & Gratitude. Virat & Anushka,” the message that Kohli shared on X and Instagram said.

The couple did not confirm the origin of the name they gave to their newborn.

Fans and members of the film and cricketing world congratulated the power couple over their second child.

While actor Ranveer Singh posted a string of ‘evil eye’ and heart emojis, Rakul Preet Singh wrote, “God bless”.

Kohli’s Indian Premier League team Royal Challengers Bangalore also congratulated the couple saying, “And then there are four Many congratulations to Anushka and Virat, and a big welcome to the youngest member of the RCB family, Akaay This is such a happy news and India will sleep well tonight.”

Kohli and Sharma, both aged 35, got married in Italy in December 2017 and were blessed with Vamika, their daughter, in January 2021. Kohli had then returned from a tour of Australia to be with his wife. They were more tight-lipped about their second pregnancy.

Recently former South Africa captain AB de Villiers on his official YouTube channel revealed that Kohli and Anushka were expecting their second child. Later, he apologised for that. Kohli has skipped India’s entire home Test series against England which is currently underway citing personal reasons. 

“My friend Virat Kohli is still not available. I cry out to everyone to give him the privacy that he deserves. Family comes first. No one knows what exactly is going on. I am asking all of us to respect that. I made a blunder in my previous show and I apologise to the Kohli family for that,” de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.
