IN India, policemen are often seen with fear and suspicion. But recently, a video of a policeman went viral on Twitter and it was certainly doing wonders in changing the law-keepers’ image for the better.

In the video, a traffic policeman was seen sweeping the road to remove pebbles and rocks while vehicles waited for the red signal to turn green. The pebbles could lead to flat tyres or even an accident or two.

The video was shared on the social media platform by a person named Awanish Sharan, an Indian Administrative Officer of Chhattisgarh cadre. The place in India where the incident took place was not known.

The video also features a man wearing a pink shirt who is cooperating with the policeman by asking the rushing motorists to drive slowly after the traffic light turned green.

Sharan captioned the video saying, “Respect for You” followed by the emoji of folded hands.

The Twitterati was divided over the matter.

‘Policeman doing somebody else’s job’

While many praised the policeman for his act, there were also others who said that it was not something to be praised as the law-keeper was doing someone else’s job, i.e., sweeping.

Well, in a democracy, agreement is few and far between. Isn’t it?
