ACTOR Vikrant Massey has issued a clarification regarding his social media post, which led to widespread speculation about his retirement from acting.
Massey, 37, confirmed that his break is temporary and intended to help him focus on his family and well-being, not a permanent exit from the industry.
“My post has been misinterpreted. That I am quitting or retiring from acting. I want to take some time off to focus on my family and health. I would be back when the time feels right,” Massey said.
The actor, known for his roles in “12th Fail” and “The Sabarmati Report”, shared that he has always valued acting deeply.
“Acting is all I can do. And it has given me everything I have. My physical and mental health have taken a hit. I just want to take some time off, want to better my craft. I feel a sense of monotony at the moment,” he noted.
Massey’s announcement came after “The Sabarmati Report”, which was released on November 15.
His Instagram post, which initially sparked the retirement rumours, read: “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also, as an Actor. So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a year of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted (sic).”
On the same day as his clarification, Massey attended a special screening of “The Sabarmati Report” in New Delhi, where he watched the film alongside prime minister Narendra Modi and other ministers at the Balyogi Auditorium in the Parliament Library Building.
Speaking to reporters, Massey described the screening with the prime minister as the “highest point” in his career. When asked to elaborate on his break announcement, he did not address the topic further at the event.
