VARUN DHAWAN shared that his preparation for his dual roles in “Baby John” was influenced by Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in the 1991 film “Hum”.

Speaking at the movie’s press conference, Dhawan mentioned that Bachchan’s portrayal in the film continues to inspire him and many newer actors.

“Amit ji has done so many iconic films, there’s so much to learn from him, the newer generation of actors should not forget that bible,” he said, reflecting on how Bachchan’s work shaped his approach to his character.

Baby John”, directed by Kalees, sees Dhawan playing a cop named Satya Verma and his alter ego, a dual role that the actor found emotionally taxing.

“There were certain scenes where I felt emotionally drained. Kalees sir would tell me not to get emotional but sometimes I would just break down,” Dhawan shared.

He also expressed gratitude towards producer Atlee for his support, recognising the challenges of bringing a Hindi film to theatres in today’s market.

Dhawan also thanked singer Diljit Dosanjh for lending his voice to the song “Nain Matakka,” expressing that working with the singer was effortless.

“We had so much fun together. He is a pure artiste,” Dhawan said, noting that they would also star together in the upcoming “Border 2”.

Atlee, who produced the film, spoke highly of the cast, saying, “Varun is outstanding in the film and has pushed himself very hard.”

He also praised Keerthy Suresh for her performance in her Bollywood debut role, calling her part “important and challenging.”

The film, which also features Wamiqa Gabbi and Jackie Shroff, will be released on December 25.
