She lost her beloved grandfather in a road accident in 2020 and the incident made her determined to save others from meeting the same fate. A young woman named Khushi from Lucknow in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has taken up the job of providing free red lights to cyclists on streets so that they could be spotted by vehicles in the dark and accidents can be avoided.
Khushi’s grandfather died when a car hit his bicycle after its driver failed to see him. After the tragedy, Khushi has taken to raising awareness about traffic safety and is seen fitting red lights on cycles. She has roughly installed around 1,500 lights on cycles and her story was posted on Twitter by Indian Administrative Officer Awanish Sharan.
He shared a video clip on his social media account which narrated Khushi’s story. She is seen standing on the street holding a placard saying in Hindi “Install lights on your cycles”. She is also seen asking cyclists to stop and fitting the lights on their cycle. One elderly man was also seen blessing her after she helped him with the lights. “God Bless You,” Sharan captioned the video.
It's a great work done by her. Even such small efforts, if immitated by 1000 in country, can save more than 10000 lives every year@swarup58
