In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old man in Unnao in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly raping a 18-year-old woman after taking a ‘sex pill’ and left her bleeding to death.
The accused, identified as Raj Gautam, is a post-graduate student, while the victim was preparing for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) examination, ThePrint reported.
Gautam, a resident of Unnao, was arrested on Sunday (13), the report added.
During interrogation by the police, the accused confessed to having taken the pills before meeting the girl and said he “could not control himself”.
Police sources told ThePrint that the victim’s post-mortem report showed that she died of “shock and haemorrhage”.
Superintendent of police, Unnao, Siddharth Shankar Meena, told the news outlet, “The teenager was alone at home when Gautam reached the house and before coming he took an energy pill. He then forced himself on her and raped her.
“During interrogation, he said that he took a high dose of the pill and could not control himself despite the girl’s resistance. He said that when she started bleeding from her private parts and fainted, he got scared and fled from the spot.”
“We have registered a case of murder and rape against the accused and have arrested him,” he added.
The incident came to light on Thursday (10) when the victim’s father, a teacher, saw her body after returning home and went to the police.
In his complaint, the father said he had gone to teach and his wife to a health centre where she works and when their two other children returned home, they saw their elder sister lying naked inside and bleeding from her private parts and head, ThePrint added.
He also told ThePrint that her late daughter was preparing for the IAS examination, considered one of the most prestigious in India, and was a good student who excelled in mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
“Why would this man be such a demon?” he asked.
Police sources said the woman had known Gautam via social media and that he had planned to sexually assault her on the day knowing she would be alone. He reportedly took the pill for that.
