INDIA-BORN Shri Thanedar of the Democratic Party on Monday (28) has moved to impeach president Donald Trump, claiming that he is ‘unfit’ to rule the US.
The Michigan Congressman, who hails from Karnataka, has introduced seven articles accusing Trump of obstruction of justice, abuse of power, usurpation of power, bribery and corruption.
In his statement, Thanedar said that Trump is “unfit to serve as President and represents a clear and present danger to our nation’s constitution and our democracy.”
“We cannot wait for more damage to be done. Congress must act,” he added.
Thanedar has also accused Trump of setting up illegal agencies, such as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
He claims this has unlawfully empowered Elon Musk “to unilaterally violate the Constitution.”
This is the first time this year a House Democrat has tried to impeach the president or a member of his administration.
However, since Republicans control the Congress as well as the Senate, the prospect of the motion going through is unlikely.
The impeachment process against Trump was initiated in 2019 and 2021, and both times it was dismissed in the Senate.
After Thanedar’s move, Trump’s MAGA fans have picked on the toupee he normally wears.
A Trump supporter posted on X that he should “consider drafting articles against whoever sold him that wig too.”
