THREE PERSONS were killed while another three got injured in “horrific and tragic” attacks in Nottingham that are reportedly connected.

According to the BBC, police discovered two bodies in Ilkeston Road around 4.00 BST, before they were called to Milton Street where a vehicle had tried to run over three. A man was then found dead in Magdala Road, the report added.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and was in custody. The police locked down the city centre.

Kate Meynell, chief constable from Nottinghamshire Police said the force believed all three attacks had connections between them.

“This is an horrific and tragic incident which has claimed the lives of three people,” she was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“This investigation is at its early stages and a team of detectives is working to establish exactly what has happened.

“We ask the public to be patient while inquiries continue.”

Lynn Haggitt, a witness, said she saw the van ramming into two persons in Nottingham.

“At half past five I saw a van pull up at the side of me,” she said, the BBC reported.

“It was white, all white. There was a police car behind it coming up slowly, no flashing lights.

“The man in the driver’s seat looked in his mirror and saw the police car behind him.

“She said the white van then drove up to “the corner of the street and went into two people”.

“The lady ended up on the curb, and then he backed up the white van and he went, speeded up Parliament Street with the police cars following him,” she added.

Thanking the emergency services, prime minister Rishi Sunak said he was being updated on developments. He also said that his prayers were with those injured and the kin of those who lost their lives.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer also sent his “thoughts to all those affected and to the emergency services who are responding”.
