THE controversial remarks uttered by Nupur Sharma, a leader of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), allegedlly directed against Prophet Muhammad have caused much inconvenience for India’s foreign-policy establishment.

A number of nations from the Arab world have strongly condemned the incident and while the BJP has suspended Sharma’s membership, the country’s diplomats are working overtime to repair the relations before the damage becomes deep.

The anti-Islam remarks have triggered such a protest from the Muslim world that even countries such as Saudi Arabia and Iran, which are otherwise known to be enemies in matters of religion and geopolitics, have found themselves on the same page against India.

The Twitter has found a reason to joke over this and said such is the magical influence of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi that he has even managed to unify two staunch foes — the Saudis and Iranians. Even Qatar, which had a major diplomatic tiff with the Saudis and their regional allies a few years ago, joined the protest.

Consequently, #ModiHaitoMumkinHain (with Modi around, anything is possible) has started trending on Twitter. of course, those who are tweeting with the hashtag are mocking Modi and his party and Twitter was found enjoying it despite the snowballing diplomatic row.

Journalist Swati Chaturvedi said, “Gotta say #ModiHaitoMumkinHai he’s managed to get Iran & Saudi Arabia on the same side…both have denounced the Bjp”

Another journalist Rana Ayyub, who is known to be a fierce critic of the BJP in India, tweeted, “Iran, Saudi Arabia and Qatar speaking in one voice. When was the last time the world witnessed this ? Modi hai to mumkin hai”.

Ashok Swain, a professor of peace and conflict research, said in a tweet, “Who had thought that one day Saudi Arabia and Iran would teach India the basics of religious tolerance? Modi has made impossible possible!”
