Social media giant Twitter has barred the account of the government of Pakistan from being seen in India in response to a legal demand, a notice on the platform said on Thursday (30).
According to a report by Reuters, the company’s guidelines compel it to withhold entire accounts if there is a valid legal demand, such as an order from the court.
Reuters also said that the account, @GovtofPakistan, was not available for viewing and interaction from western nations such as the US and Canada, after it ran a check.
The news outlet tried to get reaction from Twitter as well as information technology ministries in both India and Pakistan but could not get any.
