FORMER US president Donald Trump, who has been facing a series of legal challenges over the last few months, has stolen the headlines over yet another controversy.
The 77-year-old mercurial businessman-politician, who promised “food for all” at an iconic Cuban restaurant in Miami following his arraignment on Tuesday (13), left early without paying the bill, said local reports.
The Republican leader, who is running for the presidency in next year’s elections, made a sudden stop at the eatery and announced there would be food for all. But an anonymous source said later that the former president left without picking the bill.
“Mr Trump only saw fit to stay at the restaurant for a handful of minutes after announcing that there would be food for all, leaving no time for people to order let alone for him to pay the check,” The Independent reported.
A spokesperson of Trump told the New York Post that when the former president departed, the people at the restaurant also left without placing any order.
“Campaign advance team members paid for the to-go meals purchased, and there were no unpaid tabs. President Trump looks forward to returning soon!” the spokesperson told the Post.

Trump did not eat any of the Cuban delights himself, but had McDonald’s later in his plane, The New York Times reported.
Trump, who turned 77 on Wednesday (14), faced a magistrate, receiving 37 counts across 7 charges by a special counsel after an FBI raid on his mansion 10 months ago.
