He is known for making whirlwind tours, whether it comes to inaugurating development projects or attending election rallies. On Monday (24), prime minister Narendra Modi will kick off yet another such trip during which he will travel more than 5,300 kilometres through eight cities across India in just 36 hours to flag off several projects.

The prime minister will begin his journey by leaving for the central state of Madhya Pradesh from Delhi and from there, he will head for the southernmost state of Kerala. Modi will thereafter visit the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu in the western part of the country before returning to the national capital on Tuesday (25), officials said.

They said Modi will travel from Delhi to Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, covering a distance of around 500 kilometres, and then to Rewa to participate in a National Panchayati Raj Day programme. He will return to Khajuraho from there, covering a distance of around 280 kilometres to and fro. From there, Modi will fly to Kochi in Kerala, covering a distance of about 1,700 kilometres, to take part in Yuvam Conclave.

On Tuesday morning, he will travel from Kochi to Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, covering a distance of about 190 kilometres, where he will flag off a Vande Bharat Express semi-high-speed train besides dedicating and laying the foundation stones of various projects.

From the southern state, the prime minister will travel to Silvassa, the capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, via Surat in his home state of Gujarat, covering about 1,570 kilometres, the officials added.

At Silvassa, PM Modi will visit the NAMO Medical College and dedicate and lay the foundation stones of various projects. He will then travel to Daman for the inauguration of the Devka seafront, following which he will go to Surat, covering about 110 kilometres.

From Surat, Modi will travel back to Delhi, adding another 940 kilometres to his travel schedule, the officials said.

“The hectic schedule will see the Prime Minister travelling an aerial distance of around 5,300 km. To put this figure in perspective, one can look at the length of India from north to south, which is about 3,200 km,” an official said, noting that the entire travel and other programmes of the prime minister are packed in only 36 hours.
