While Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani often steals the news headlines by rocketing through the ranks of the world’s wealthiest people (recently he even became the second-richest in the world trailing only Elon Musk albeit briefly), this time it is his elder brother Vinod Shantilal Adani who has also claimed a share.

According to reports, the latter has become the richest non-resident Indian (NRI), according to the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022. He is also the sixth richest Indian on the list with a wealth amounting to Rs 1.69 lakh crore (£18.8 billion). Gautam Adani is at No.1 with a wealth total worth Rs 10.94 lakh crore (£122 billion).

This year, as many as 94 NRIs have found their names in the list of richest Indians, NDTV reported. The Hinduja brothers were at the second place with a wealth of Rs 1.65 lakh crore (£18.4 billion). Among the NRIs, 48 from the US are in the list. The wealthiest NRI residing in the US was found to be Jay Chaudhry with a total wealth of Rs 70,000 crore (£7.8 billion).
