IN a forecast that will not give employers in India an assurance, recruitment agency Michael Page has said in a report that the trend of resignation from jobs in India is set to continue in 2022 with 86 per cent of employees planning to quit in the next six months.
India has stood witness to ‘The Great Resignation’ for the last couple of years when the Covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, the findings of the report have said that 61 per cent of the employees in India are willing to take a low salary or forgo a pay rise or a promotion for a better work-life balance, well-being and happiness.

“According to our data, not only has it already been taking place for the last two years sparked by the global pandemic 2022 will only see it intensify,” Michael Page said in its report titled The Great X.

The report said that the trend will continue across markets, industries and age groups.

“With the clear majority saying a significant talent migration event is upon us in the next few months, we must be ready for it to increase,” the report said.

While there have been intense debates over companies’ working styles (working from home, hybrid, etc.) and pandemic-related regulations that have led to employee dissatisfaction, the report found that 11 per cent of employees who have either resigned or plan to resign point this as the reason for quitting.

As per the report, top reasons for planned resignations are: career progression, change career role or industry, dissatisfaction over salary and with strategy or direction of company.

Among 12 nations surveyed in the report, India topped the list in terms of the percentage (86) of employees planning to quit their current jobs in the market, followed by Indonesia (84), the Philippines (83) and Malaysia (82).
