ARCHRIVALS India and Pakistan will lock horns in the T20 World Cup this year on June 9 at Eisenhower Park in New York, the schedule of the marquee tournament which was released on Friday (5), showed.
It will be the third time that the two Asian powerhouses will face each other inside three years in the World Cup in the shortest format. Both won a game each in their previous two meetings in the 2021 and 2022 editions held in the UAE and Australia, respectively.
India, who won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007, have been clubbed with co-hosts USA, Ireland and Canada besides Pakistan in Group A. They will play the first three matches of the group in New York and the fourth in Florida.
The tournament will be hosted jointly by the USA and the West Indies between June 1 and 29. The opening game will see North American neighbours USA and Canada locking horns, just like they had done in the first ever international cricket match way back in 1844 in New York.
