The much-anticipated trailer of Suzhal – The Vortex Season 2 has been officially unveiled by Prime Video, promising another thrilling ride into mystery and suspense. Created and written by the visionary duo Pushkar & Gayatri, the second season is helmed by directors Bramma and Sarjun KM and produced under the banner of Wallwatcher Films.
The gripping Tamil crime thriller, which earned widespread acclaim for its first season, is set to premiere on February 28, reaching audiences in over 240 countries and territories worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, with English subtitles.
Bringing back familiar faces, Season 2 sees Kathir and Aishwarya Rajesh reprising their lead roles, along with a stellar ensemble cast that includes Lal, Saravanan, Gouri Kishan (Muthu), Samyuktha Vishwanathan (Naachi), Monisha Blessy (Muppi), Rini (Gaandhari), Shrisha (Veera), Abhirami Bose (Senbagam), Nikhila Sankar (Sandhanam), Kalaivani Bhaskar (Ulagu), and Ashwini Nambiar. Additionally, Manjima Mohan and Kayal Chandran will make special appearances, adding further intrigue to the story.
The first season of Suzhal – The Vortex set a new benchmark in Tamil storytelling, with its deeply layered narrative, captivating performances, and immersive atmosphere. The sequel aims to raise the stakes even higher, diving deeper into the shadows of crime and deception.
Set against the backdrop of the Ashtakaali festival in the fictional village of Kaalipattanam, the story takes a chilling turn when the brutal murder of Chellappa (Lal), a veteran activist lawyer and social worker, sends shockwaves through the village. The crime’s impact extends far beyond the immediate community, unraveling deep-seated secrets and exposing a sinister web of deception.
As the central investigator, Sub-Inspector Sakkarai (Kathir) is tasked with solving the horrifying crime, but the case is anything but straightforward. Adding to the complexity, eight seemingly unconnected young women emerge as primary suspects, making the mystery even more perplexing. Meanwhile, Nandini (Aishwarya Rajesh) continues to battle the demons of her past while facing an uncertain future behind bars. The investigation spirals into a maze of personal vendettas, hidden motives, and a dark conspiracy that threatens to consume Sakkarai before he can uncover the truth.
Speaking about the second season, directors Bramma and Sarjun KM expressed their excitement about bringing an even more enthralling narrative to audiences:
“After the phenomenal response to the first season of Suzhal—The Vortex, we set a high bar for ourselves to ensure the audience finds the second season even more captivating. Pushkar and Gayatri have crafted an even more engrossing narrative, which we meticulously and creatively directed to bring to life. As Kathir and Aishwarya deliver yet another spellbinding performance, along with the stellar ensemble cast, our task as directors became much easier. We can’t wait for the audience to immerse themselves in the world of Suzhal—The Vortex once again and are confident they will find season two incredibly compelling.”

Kathir, who plays Sub-Inspector Sakkarai, also shared his thoughts on the overwhelming response to Season 1 and his excitement for Season 2:
“I am thrilled to reprise my role as Sub-Inspector Sakkarai in the second season of Suzhal—The Vortex, a groundbreaking series that pushed the envelope in Tamil storytelling, putting our industry on the global map, and winning national accolades. Pushkar and Gayatri are true visionaries who have crafted yet another gripping and entertaining narrative for season two. The overwhelming response from both audiences and critics to my performance and the first season was truly humbling, and I am hopeful that everyone will appreciate the second season just as much or more.”
Aishwarya Rajesh, who plays Nandini, also reflected on her journey with the series and how the new season takes her character on another turbulent ride:
“Suzhal—The Vortex will always be one of my most rewarding and memorable projects, and I still feel overwhelmed by the love and appreciation I received for my performance in the first season of the series. Playing Nandini was a complete rollercoaster, as she went from searching for her younger sister to reliving her suppressed memories and then avenging the heinous crime committed against herself and her sister. And in season two, she isn’t free of the nightmares, as she finds herself in the middle of another unfathomable murder mystery. If season one was exciting, season two will be even more unpredictable for the audience, and I can’t wait for them to watch it when it premieres on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.”
With its high-intensity drama, deeply woven mystery, and psychological intrigue, Suzhal – The Vortex Season 2 promises to be an edge-of-the-seat experience that will keep audiences guessing until the very end. Fans of the first season, as well as new viewers, can look forward to an unpredictable and mind-bending crime thriller when the series drops on Prime Video on February 28.
