PLAYBACK singers Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal, celebrated for their distinct musical journeys, recently collaborated on “Chhaila,” an independent track composed by Salim-Sulaiman and written by Shraddha Pandit.

Reflecting on their enduring bond, Chauhan described their relationship as “friends, best friends, BFFs, and everything that comes along with friends and besties.”

Their careers began similarly through reality music shows, where they quickly gained recognition. Chauhan won “Meri Awaz Suno,” becoming a household name, while Ghoshal’s breakthrough came after her win on “Sa Re Ga Ma.”

Both singers remember fondly their early encounters, including a US tour with vocalist Shaan and a memorable sound check on the bus, marking the start of a friendship that has grown over the years.

Reflecting on their evolving relationship, Ghoshal spoke of Chauhan’s early influence, recalling her family’s admiration for Chauhan’s performances on “Meri Awaz Suno.” Chauhan, in turn, reminisced about hearing Ghoshal perform “Paan Khaye Saiyan Hamaro,” noting the young singer’s expressive voice.

Motherhood now forms a significant part of their conversations, as they share parenting experiences. Chauhan is mother to six-year-old Tegh, and Ghoshal has a three-year-old son, Devyaan.

Ghoshal mentioned, “Now, we both are mothers so we have a lot of similar problems and happy moments that we share.”

This strong connection facilitated their work on “Chhaila,” where both felt free to express themselves.

Chauhan noted, “We did this song with pure honesty; we were open like a book.” Ghoshal hinted at future collaborations, even suggesting a possible “Chhaila 2.0.”
