Sudhanshu Pandey, who played the role of Vanraj Shah in the popular television series Anupamaa, has finally spoken up about the persistent rumors of a rift between him and his co-star Rupali Ganguly. The actor, who announced his departure from the show in August 2024, has dismissed any claims of tension, insisting that their professional and personal rapport remains intact.
In an interview with Indian Express, Sudhanshu clarified the ongoing speculation about his equation with Rupali Ganguly. He emphasized that despite what is being said, everything is perfectly fine between them. “Even though there are so many stories going around, whatever I said was my side of the story, and it was 100 percent the truth. Stories have nothing to do with reality, so don’t believe them. All is well; the four years have been fantastic. I will cherish being a part of Anupamaa all my life. The equation with Rupali is all okay. I was chatting with her recently. She messaged me about something on Instagram, and we were bickering about it. So it is all fine,” he said, putting an end to the speculation.
Sudhanshu’s exit from Anupamaa was a major talking point among fans. Having been part of the show since its inception in 2020, his departure left viewers in shock. However, he explained that he had to personally announce his exit on social media to avoid disappointing his audience. “I didn’t want them to be later shocked or heartbroken. At least I told them personally, and they didn’t come to know from other sources,” he stated.
The actor also acknowledged how his role as Vanraj Shah had become an integral part of his career and that he would always treasure the experience. Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly in the titular role, continues to be one of Indian television’s most-watched shows, making his exit a significant development in the industry.
Beyond television, Sudhanshu Pandey has built a strong portfolio in films, having appeared in projects such as Radhe, Jersey, and Bypass Road. He has also explored reality television and is reportedly a contestant on The Traitors, an Indian adaptation of the American game show of the same name. Hosted by Karan Johar, the show features a mix of celebrities engaging in psychological strategy and deception.
While fans of Anupamaa were saddened by his departure, Sudhanshu’s statement reassures them that his exit was amicable and that his bond with Rupali Ganguly remains positive. As he ventures into new projects, his supporters eagerly anticipate what’s next for the talented actor.
