STATE Bank of India (SBI) UK has been awarded as the ‘Bank of the Year’ at the prestigious GG2 Leadership and Diversity Awards 2024 organised by the Asian Media Group in London on Tuesday (5) evening.
The SBI UK acknowledged the award to say in a post on X, “This recognition underscores our commitment to excellence, innovation, and inclusivity in the banking sector. Thank you to our incredible team for their dedication and to our valued customers for their trust and support. We’re proud to continue championing diversity and creating a more inclusive future.”

Sudhir Sharma, regional head (UK Ops) of the SBI, received the award on behalf of his company at the ceremony.

The awards see an assembly of a diverse mix of business and community leaders, along with celebrities, doctors, lawyers, academics and achievers from other fields of life to celebrate the feat of ethnic minority communities that reside in Britain.

The awards bring together a diverse mix of business and community leaders along with celebrities, academics, doctors, lawyers and sports personalities to celebrate the achievement of ethnic minority communities in Britain.
Each year, the event attracts between 600-800 attendees and witnesses the launch of the ‘GG2 Power List’.
The SBI UK has been felicitated by the Asian Media Group in one of its major award ceremonies the past as well. In 2021 too, it was adjudged as the ‘Bank of Year’ in the Asian Business Awards which are also given by the group. It was a special occasion for the bank as it was celebrating its centenary in the UK that year.
