Filmmaker SS Rajamouli has officially confirmed that actor Nani will feature in his much-anticipated dream project, Mahabharata. Speaking at the grand pre-release event of HIT 3 in Hyderabad on Sunday (27), Rajamouli addressed swirling rumours about the casting of his epic project.
Hosted by Suma Kanakala, the lively event saw a candid moment when she, dressed like Nani’s character in HIT 3, pressed Rajamouli for an update on Mahabharata. In response, the RRR director excitedly announced, “Only Nani’s casting is fixed,” prompting roaring cheers and applause from the audience.
While Rajamouli remained tight-lipped when initially asked about updates on his current work, SSMB 29 starring Mahesh Babu, he enthusiastically confirmed Nani’s inclusion in Mahabharata, making the evening even more special for fans.
This announcement has sparked immense excitement, given that Mahabharata has been Rajamouli’s long-cherished dream project. Despite being busy shooting for SSMB 29, the director’s focus and passion for Mahabharata remain unwavering.
Nani, visibly emotional and grateful, took the stage to thank Rajamouli for gracing the event. “I texted him requesting him to attend. He was busy shooting, but I will not reveal for which film. I wasn’t sure if he could make it, but he instantly agreed. Thank you, sir,” Nani said, winning hearts with his humility. In a heartfelt moment, Nani also showered love on Rajamouli’s wife, Rama Rajamouli, saying, “I love you more than him. You and Valli garu have always given me the ‘akka’ (sister) vibes. I am so happy you are here.”
HIT 3, directed by Sailesh Kolanu, stars Nani and Srinidhi Shetty in lead roles and is set for a grand theatrical release on May 1, 2025.
The film is the third installment of the successful HIT franchise. While Vishwak Sen headlined the first part and Adivi Sesh led the second, Nani takes center stage in HIT 3 as Arjun Sarkaar, an aggressive and intense cop. The movie is gearing up for a major box office clash with Suriya’s Retro, promising an exciting face-off for Telugu cinema fans.
As excitement builds for both HIT 3 and Rajamouli’s larger-than-life Mahabharata, fans can look forward to seeing how Nani’s role shapes up in this monumental cinematic venture. For now, Rajamouli’s confirmation has only heightened anticipation, setting the stage for what could be one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious projects yet.
