Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) led by richest Indian Mukesh Ambani has appointed Srikanth Venkatachari as its chief financial officer (CFO) effective June 1, as per a release from the company.
Venkatachari will succeed Alok Agarwal, who has served as the CFO since 2005, and will now become a senior advisor to Ambani.
Venkatachari, who is a chartered accountant and loves to play chess, is currently the joint CFO.
According to a CNBC TV18 report, Venkatachari joined Reliance 14 years ago and as the joint CFO, has been sharing a part of the CFO’s responsibilities with Agarwal for the past few years.
He was earlier with the Citi Group where he worked for two decades in forex trading and derivatives. He later got promoted to the head of markets.
In its press release, Reliance said Venkatachari has ‘proven his mettle to carry forward the legacy of Agarwal, and to help script the company’s future chapters of growth’.
