INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed spiritual leader Sant Guru Swami Paul Ji Maharaj has appealed to Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and the ministry of external affairs for urgent assistance to help an Indian man who recently had a heart attack and is battling for survival in the North American nation.

Ravi Kant Sharma, a journalist in Canada, was on an assignment in Los Angeles, US, when he fell ill, Swami Paul Ji Maharaj told Asian News International. He added that the former is now undergoing treatment at Los Angeles Medical Center but his critical condition makes it necessary to transfer him immediately to Canada since his insurance coverage is in that country. He added that lack of resources and support have left Sharma and his family in dire straits in the US.

Sharma hails from Bhaderwah in Doda district of India’s Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.

Swami Paul Ji Maharaj then appealed to the Modi government saying, “Whenever our youth face crises, whether in Ukraine or anywhere globally, our prime minister steps in. It is crucial that in this critical time, the government extends its helping hand to Ravi Kant Sharma.”

With Sharma’s life hanging in the balance, the plea for assistance has gained “urgency and significance,” he added.

“Enough, I don’t want to say more. I trust that PM Modi, external affairs minister S Jaishankar, and especially our Doda Member of Parliament if they take this matter into their hands,” he said.
