FORMER India captain Virat Kohli has not managed to find the light at the end of the tunnel yet and the cricketing and virtual worlds are deeply split over the ace batter’s future. The 33-year-old has not made an international hundred for more than two years now and has also failed to score much in the just-concluded three-match T20 international series against England which India won 2-1.

India captain Rohit Sharma was heard backing Kohli at a press conference after the third T20 match between England and India in Nottingham after former India skipper Kapil Dev spoke in favour of dropping Kohli in the T20 format. Australia batter Usman Khwaja and former England spinner Graeme Swann also sympathised with Kohli.

But while netizens have responded to Kapil and Sharma for their stance, there was no less trolling of the cricketer in question — Kohli — on social media platform Twitter. But there were also those that backed Kohli in what is considered his lowest career point.

At times when Kohli’s bat failed to deliver, his actor wife Anushka Sharma has also been targeted by the fans and it was no exception in the current situation as well.

One netizen slammed an under-performing Kohli in the ongoing tour of England to say he “got married to a wrong woman”.

“#ViratKohli? got married to a wrong woman & became a sissy in his life. His mindset was sabotaged by a idiotic women & she rubbed him of his confidence & talent. He is not going to see a turn around in his carrier…..he is done & after Aus T20 tour will be dusted forever,” the tweet said.

Another netizen shared a gif of the cricketer smiling to hide his pain on Instagram and compared him to the Joker with the words “Its scary what a smile can hide”. A Twitter user also shared a similar post.

Another shared a picture of the former skipper wiping away his sweat and tears reading, “Abhi toh hamein aur zaleel hona hai” (I am set to see more humiliation).

These tweets were more about sympathising with the batter, who has scored the most number of international centuries for India after the legendary Sachin Tendulakr.

Another user shared a video of Kohli and said, “Comeback king ? .. you are the gem❤ of Indian cricket team . .Player Who Ruled all over the World?.Stay Strong and focus in your play. we are always here to support you”

But there were yet several funny posts that flooded social media platforms to mock Kohli.
