THE first budget of the third Narendra Modi government after it took office on June 9 will be presented on July 23, with the monsoon parliamentary session beginning a day before, minister for parliamentary affairs Kiren Rijiju announced on Saturday (6).
He also said that the session will continue till August 12.
In a post on X, Rijiju said the president of India, Droupadi Murmu, approved the proposal for summoning of both the Houses of the parliament for the parliamentary session on the recommendation of the Indian government from July 22 to August 12, 2024 (subject to exigencies of Parliamentary Business).

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman had presented the interim budget on February 1 this year since the general election was due. On July 23, she will be presenting her seventh consecutive budget, becoming the first finance minister of the country to do so, eclipsing the record of Morarji Desai, a former finance minister who also served as India’s prime minister in 1977-79.
