FILMMAKER Shoojit Sircar’s upcoming project, starring Abhishek Bachchan, marks their first collaboration and is scheduled for a November 15 release in theatres.

The film will explore a father-daughter relationship, reminiscent of Sircar’s 2015 film “Piku.”

According to Sircar, the film offers a simple yet heartfelt depiction of everyday life.

“It’s a very simple observation of life with a little smile. When I watch the film, its post-production, it brings a smile (to my face). And, I can guarantee that it is one of the finest of Abhishek Bachchan films,” Sircar said in an interview with PTI.

Despite the long gap between his previous films due to the pandemic, Sircar emphasizes that he takes his time to finalise scripts. He mentioned that both “Gulabo Sitabo” (2020) and “Sardar Udham” (2021) were released on streaming platforms during the pandemic, leaving him little time to develop a new script.

“I make very few films and my subjects are very offbeat but it’s usually stories of everyday life that I see. Some love them and some don’t but I am okay with it,” Sircar added, acknowledging the unique nature of his storytelling.

Sircar’s approach to filmmaking balances commerce and creativity, ensuring that while his films may have offbeat themes, they are still commercially viable.

He also attributes his storytelling style to his diverse influences, including his theatre background in Delhi and the works of filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, Tapan Sinha, and Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
