Indian stand-up comedian Samay Raina, known for his witty humor and gaming content, recently had an emotional moment on stage during his live show at the Myer Horowitz Theater in Edmonton, Canada. The Ranveer Allahbadia controversy, which has sparked significant backlash on social media, seemed to have taken a toll on Raina, as recounted by a fan who attended the event.
A Facebook post by Shubham Dutta, titled “The Show Must Go On…”, described Raina’s exhausted and emotional state as he stepped onto the stage.
“For the first time, Samay Raina looked exhausted, with dark circles under his eyes, his face sunken from the stress of the controversy, untidy hair wearing a black hoodie, his first words into the mic, thanks for paying my lawyer’s fees.”
Tears streamed down Raina’s face as he stood before the 700-member audience, but he quickly gathered himself, took a deep breath, and continued with his set as fans cheered his name.
The atmosphere at the venue was intense yet supportive, with the audience showing solidarity with the comedian. As Shubham described in his post, the moment was a testament to the phrase “The show must go on.”
“I finally understood the true meaning of this phrase just a few hours ago when I attended this man’s live show! For the first time, I witnessed nearly seven hundred so-called “spoiled” members of today’s generation screaming his name at the top of their lungs, while in the middle of them stood a professional stand-up comedian, tears streaming down his face right before starting the set.”

During the performance, a member of the audience joked about Raina’s situation, prompting him to bring up Ranveer Allahbadia and the controversy surrounding the YouTube show “India’s Got Talent.” The show has been criticized for inappropriate remarks, and Raina has found himself caught up in the backlash.
At one point during the show, someone from the crowd made a crude remark, to which Raina responded:
“Iss show pe bahot mauka ayega, jahan aapko lag sakta hai ki main bahot funny kuch bol sakta hoon, par tab Beerbiceps ko yaad kar lena bhai.”
This comment, referencing BeerBiceps (Ranveer Allahbadia’s social media brand), reflected Raina’s frustration with the ongoing controversy.
Despite the stress and scrutiny, Raina delivered a stellar two-hour performance, leaving the audience in fits of laughter. As the show came to an end, he addressed the difficult phase he’s currently facing, closing the night with a poignant statement:
“Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera, par yaad rakhna doston, main samay hoon.”
This powerful wordplay on his own name (Samay, meaning ‘time’ in Hindi) left the audience in awe, reaffirming his resilience and determination to move forward.
