In a shocking revelation from the recent 1,613-page police chargesheet, it has come to light that Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan pleaded with her husband Saif Ali Khan to stop confronting a knife-wielding intruder and instead focus on getting medical help. “Ye sab chhod do, pehle neeche chalo. Hospital chalte hain” (Leave all this, let’s go downstairs first. Let’s go to the hospital), Kareena told a bleeding Saif, whose clothes were soaked in blood after the brutal attack inside their Mumbai residence on January 16.
The detailed chargesheet, filed by the Bandra police, outlines a terrifying chain of events that unfolded at the Khans’ home that night. Mohammed Shariful Fakir, a Bangladeshi national, has been charged with attacking Saif Ali Khan with a knife after breaking into their home in a dramatic and dangerous intrusion.
According to Kareena Kapoor’s statement, she arrived home at 1:20 am, and shortly after, at around 2 am, panic broke out when Jehangir’s nanny, Junu, screamed that an armed man was in the child’s room demanding money. Kareena and Saif rushed to the room to confront the intruder. Saif asked the man, “Kaun hai, kya chahiye?” (Who are you? What do you want?), and bravely attempted to restrain him.
A violent struggle followed. As per Kareena’s account, Saif was stabbed multiple times — in the neck, back, and hands. Despite being injured, he managed to drive the attacker away momentarily. Kareena immediately took control of the situation, ushering her two children, Jehangir and Taimur, along with their nanny and domestic staff, into a lift to flee to a safer area on the twelfth floor.
The chargesheet reveals that even as the attacker remained inside the house, Kareena prioritized the family’s safety and pleaded with Saif to stop engaging with the intruder. Saif later joined them upstairs, heavily wounded. Kareena, visibly shaken, reportedly repeated her plea for him to go to the hospital immediately.
The chargesheet includes Saif’s own statement corroborating the series of events. “When I was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, doctors told me that a part of the knife was recovered from my back during surgery,” the actor stated, confirming the severity of the attack.
Investigations have uncovered that Shariful Fakir entered the Khans’ building by climbing a pipe to reach the first floor and then continued to climb the stairs up to the 11th floor. He attempted to break into several apartments before finally gaining access to the Khans’ duplex apartment, which spans the 11th and 12th floors.
The forensic evidence collected by police includes 29 blood samples and 20 fingerprints from the crime scene at Satguru Sharan building. A palm print was also lifted from a door on the 8th floor, further linking the accused to the break-in. Shariful was eventually arrested in Thane on January 19.
The case has drawn widespread attention for the sheer horror of a high-profile home intrusion and the bravery shown by the celebrity couple. Kareena Kapoor’s composure during the crisis and her protective instincts toward her children and husband stood out as defining moments in the night’s terrifying ordeal.
As investigations continue, the film industry and fans have rallied around the couple, with many praising Kareena’s quick thinking and Saif’s courage. The chargesheet lists over 40 witnesses, including domestic staff and police officers involved in the arrest, painting a comprehensive picture of a night that could have ended in far greater tragedy.
