National Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty has officially unveiled the first poster of his highly anticipated historical epic, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The announcement was made today, February 19, on the 395th birth anniversary of the legendary Maratha warrior.
The film, set for a grand release on January 21, 2027, is poised to be one of India’s most ambitious cinematic productions. The project is envisioned as a global tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, celebrating his extraordinary leadership, vision, and bravery.

In an interview with The Times of India, Rishab Shetty expressed his immense pride in portraying the legendary king. Speaking about his deep admiration for Shivaji’s legacy, he stated:
“Shivaji’s life and legacy have always fascinated me, and there is a deep sense of pride in being associated with such a great historical figure. Opportunities like biopics come only once in a lifetime. As an actor and a performer, I feel that it’s an honor to bring his story to life on the big screen.”
The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is being directed by Sandeep Singh, with music composed by the renowned Pritam and lyrics penned by Prasoon Joshi.
The movie’s cinematography will be handled by Ravi Varman, known for his work in Ram Leela and Barfi. Additionally, Resul Pookutty, the Academy Award-winning sound designer behind Slumdog Millionaire and The Goat Life, has joined the project as the Director of Sound & Acoustics.
Apart from this monumental biopic, Rishab Shetty has a packed schedule ahead. He is set to play the role of Hanuman in Prasanth Varma’s Jai Hanuman, a sequel to the successful superhero film HanuMan. Additionally, Rishab is both directing and starring in the much-awaited Kantara: Chapter 1, a prequel to his blockbuster Kantara, which is set to release later this year.
With The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rishab Shetty is set to take audiences on an unforgettable journey through Indian history, bringing the valiant Maratha ruler’s story to life on a grand cinematic scale.
