INDIAN musicians Ricky Kej and Anoushka Shankar have earned nominations for the Grammy Awards.
Kej, a three-time Grammy winner, received his fourth nomination in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category for his album Break of Dawn.
The announcement was made by the Recording Academy on Friday.
The same category also includes Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn, an album by sitarist and composer Anoushka Shankar.
In addition, Warriors of Light by Radhika Vekaria and Triveni by entrepreneur and musician Chandrika Tandon, which features collaborations with flautist Wouter Kellerman and cellist Eru Matsumoto, are also nominated.
Shankar earned another nomination for her featured role on Jacob Collier’s song “A Rock Somewhere,” which includes Varijashree Venugopal, a first-time nominee.
The track is up for the Best Global Music Performance award, which recognises new vocal or instrumental global music recordings.
Kej’s previous Grammy wins include the 2015 award for Winds of Samsara and the 2022 award for Divine Tides, in collaboration with Stewart Copeland. In 2023, Divine Tides also won the Best Immersive Audio Album award.
The 67th Grammy Awards will be held on February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
