Reema Kagti’s ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ screened at London film fest

The film focuses on the life of Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker in Malegaon, who gathers his friends to make a film for and by the people of Malegaon

REEMA KAGTI’S latest film, “Superboys of Malegaon”, was screened at the 68th BFI London Film Festival on Thursday.

The screening took place at Vue West End Theatre in London and was attended by Kagti, lead actor Adarsh Gourav, and co-producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Zoya Akhtar.

The film, produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby, focuses on the life of Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker in Malegaon.

The town’s residents use Bollywood films to escape from their daily struggles, and Nasir, driven by his passion for cinema, gathers his friends to make a film for and by the people of Malegaon. According to the official synopsis, this endeavor brings a new sense of energy and hope to the town.

“Superboys of Malegaon” had its world premiere at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 13.

The film stars Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora, with the screenplay written by Varun Grover. It has been described as a touching portrayal of the intersection between filmmaking and friendship.

The film’s producers include Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti for Tiger Baby and Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for Excel Entertainment.
