Rasha Thadani, daughter of Bollywood star Raveena Tandon, is already capturing hearts with her debut performance in Azaad. The 19-year-old newcomer impressed fans with her confident moves and expressive performance in the peppy track Uyi Amma. In a recent interview, Rasha opened up about her intensive preparation for the role, revealing how her mother played a crucial role in training her for the spotlight.
In an interview with BBC Asian Network, Rasha shared that her mother Raveena Tandon always knew she would eventually become an actor. To help her prepare, Raveena made her watch legendary performers like Rekha, Saroj Khan, and Sadhana.
“My mom knew I would become an actor. She would make me watch Rekha ji, Saroj Khan ji, and Sadhana ji’s performances. She would break it down for me and tell me to note the expressions for certain moods. She really focused on teaching me the craft, rather than just asking me to watch for fun,” Rasha said.
One of the key highlights of Rasha’s performance in Uyi Amma was her expressive dancing. She credited choreographer Bosco Martis and his team for helping her deliver a strong debut. “Bosco is a genius. He and his team really worked with me on the song,” she added.
Recalling a fun moment, Rasha shared how someone on the street recognized her only by her song performance. “There was a poster of our film on the billboard, and I rolled down the window to click a photo of it. This man on the street came to me and yelled, ‘Arey ye toh Uyi Amma hai (She’s the Uyi Amma girl),’” she laughed.
Rasha Thadani starred opposite Amaan Devgan in the film Azaad, directed by Abhishek Kapoor. While the film failed to make a mark at the box office, Rasha’s debut performance and screen presence have earned her attention, laying a strong foundation for a promising future in Bollywood.
