ACE shuttler PV Sindhu got married to her fiancé Venkata Datta Sai, an executive director at Posidex Technologies, at a ceremony in Udaipur on Sunday.
The couple exchanged vows according to traditional Telugu rituals and in the presence of their relatives and close friends.
The ceremonies began with a Sangeet on December 20, which was followed by Haldi, Pellikuthuru, and Mehendi ceremonies the next day.
A reception will be held in Hyderabad on December 24.
Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat attended the wedding ceremony in Udaipur.
Soon after the Hyderabad reception, Sindhu plans to start her training for the next season.
Sindhu is regarded as one of India’s greatest athletes with five world championship medals, including a gold in 2019, besides her silver and bronze at the Olympic Games.
The champion badminton player won back-to-back Olympic medals at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, and achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 2 in 2017.
However, her Paris Olympics outing was a lacklusture one with an early exit. She lost to China’s He Bing Jiao in the round of 16.
