Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch would not be happy if his Chelsea counterpart Thomas Tuchel is seen on the touchline when their sides meet in a key fixture at the ongoing Premier League at Elland Road on Sunday (21).
Tuchel was shown the red card along with Tottenham Spurs coach Antonio Conte after a bad-tempered game last weekend after their post-match handshake turned into a fiery encounter. The match ended 2-2, thanks to Tottenham scoring in the extra minutes, leaving Tuchel frustrated.
The Chelsea coach was handed a fine of AUD 60K (£34,880) and a one-game ban but Conte got away with 25k fine (£14,533) only. Tuchel’s ban was later lifted which means he is now free to appear on the sidelines of the Ellan Road clash.
There is nothing much to differentiate between Leeds and Chelsea as both teams have four points from two games and have the same goal difference of one. However, Leeds is placed sixth as against Chelsea’s seven position in the points table as they have scored one goal more.
Marsch was not happy with the lifting of Tuchel’s ban saying the latter’s avoiding the punishment for the red card “did not seem right”.
“He won’t be there, right?” Marsch was quoted as asking by Fox Sports.
“Are they saying he might be able to be on the bench? That does not seem right, does it?
“If you get a red card, you are out of the match. I would be disappointed if they allow him to be on the bench.
“There is a simple rule in football. Whether it’s soccer or football, if you get a red card you can’t play the next match,” he added.
