PEOPLE for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India has called on Bollywood actor Salman Khan to take action in removing a donkey from the set of the popular reality show “Bigg Boss 18.”

In a letter addressed to Khan, PETA India highlighted public concerns regarding the use of the donkey, named Gadhraj, who was introduced as the 19th contestant on the show.

The letter, written by PETA India representative Shaurya Agrawal, stated that many viewers have expressed distress over the presence of the animal in the show.

“We are being inundated with complaints by members of the public who are deeply distressed over the keeping of a donkey in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house,” the letter read.

PETA India urged Khan to use his influence to persuade the producers to stop using animals for entertainment purposes.

The organization also requested that the donkey be handed over to them for rehoming in a sanctuary. The donkey is reportedly being confined in a small space on the set, which PETA India claims could be harmful to the animal’s well-being.

“‘Bigg Boss’ is lighthearted entertainment, but the use of animals on a show set is no laughing matter. As prey animals, donkeys are naturally nervous,” the letter continued.
