INDIAN prime minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (10) said he got a call from his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu who informed him about the current situation in the Middle Eastern nation which is in the middle of a deadly conflict with Palestinian militant group Hamas.
In a post on X, Modi said, “I thank Prime Minister @netanyahu for his phone call and providing an update on the ongoing situation. People of India stand firmly with Israel in this difficult hour. India strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
The Indian leader extended solidarity with Israel after Hamas carried out coordinated attacks on the Jewish state saying in a social media post that he was deeply shocked by the news of the terror attack and that India stands “in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour”.

The opposition alliance India, however, had a different take on the conflict. While the Communist Party of India (Marxist) condemned Israel for “indiscriminately occupying Palestine lands”, the Indian National Congress came up with a more balanced approach on Monday (9), reiterating support for the Palestinians and calling for an immediate ceasefire between the two sides.
Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour.

On Sunday (8), India’s grand-old party had condemned the “brutal attacks on the people of Israel” while expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people’s “legitimate aspirations”.
More than 900 Israelis and some 500 Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing conflict that started after Hamas launched its deadliest attack in decades.
