Penn Badgley, best known for his roles in Gossip Girl and You, has unexpectedly captured the hearts of Indian fans—this time not with his dark screen persona, but with a surprising Bollywood twist. A viral video showing Badgley grooving to the iconic 2000s Bollywood track Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai has taken the Internet by storm, amassing millions of views and spawning hilarious fan reactions across social media.
In the clip, Badgley is seen dressed sharply in a beige pantsuit, energetically dancing to the Hrithik Roshan-Ameesha Patel classic. The song, originally sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik and composed by Rajesh Roshan, remains one of the most beloved tracks in Hindi cinema.
However, fans were quick to point out that the now-viral video is actually a cleverly edited fan creation. The original footage reportedly features Badgley dancing to “Anxiety” by rapper Sleepy Hallow. Despite this, the edit—shared by Instagram page @qualiteaposts—has struck a chord with viewers.

Captioning the video, the fan page wrote, “I honestly could watch this all day,” echoing the sentiments of many online. The video shows Badgley executing quirky and exaggerated moves that fit surprisingly well with the beat of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, leading many to believe, even if briefly, that the actor had embraced Bollywood dance.
The Internet was quick to react with humor and excitement. One user joked, “Joe Goldberg after changing his identity for the 17th time,” referencing Badgley’s identity-shifting character in You. Another fan gleefully exclaimed, “THE Gossip Girl dancing to a Bollywood song is all I needed.” Others speculated jokingly about Badgley’s fictional character potentially targeting Hrithik Roshan next. “Joe’s next victim is Hrithik Roshan,” one comment read, while another teased, “Wait, is Joe coming for an Indian girl now?”
The viral moment coincides perfectly with the release of You Season 5, which premiered globally on Netflix on April 24, 2025. In India, all 10 episodes became available for streaming from 12:30 PM IST the same day. The final season features an ensemble cast including Charlotte Ritchie, Madeline Brewer, Griffin Matthews, Anna Camp, Frankie DeMaio, Tati Gabrielle, Amy-Leigh Hickman, and Kathryn Gallagher.
Filming for the final installment of the psychological thriller began in March 2024 and wrapped up by August of the same year. Originally slated for a 2024 release, the season faced delays due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
While Badgley hasn’t commented on the viral Bollywood dance edit yet, it’s clear the Indian Internet has crowned him an honorary Bollywood hero—at least for now. Whether it’s Joe Goldberg or Dan Humphrey, Penn Badgley’s charm has officially crossed over into desi fandom.
