A MARRIED Indian woman who legally visited a remote village in Pakistan to meet her Facebook friend will return to her country when her visa expires, her Pakistani friend Nasrulla has confirmed.
Denying any romantic involvement, the latter also said that they have no plans to marry. Anju, the woman in question, has a valid Pakistani visa and will go back to India after her visa’s expiration on August 20.
“Anju is on a visit to Pakistan and we have no plan to marry,” Narulla told PTI over the phone from village Kulsho in the district, located some 300 kilometres from the city of Peshawar.
Nasrulla, a science graduate, provided an affidavit to authorities confirming their friendship is not romantic, and Anju will return as per her visa requirements.
They have been provided security in Pakistan, and the villagers hope for her safe return to India to avoid any negative impact on their community’s reputation.
Anju’s situation bears similarities to Seema Ghulam Haider’s case, where a Pakistani woman entered India illegally to be with an online acquaintance she met while playing PUBG. Seema, along with her four children, aged below seven, entered India via Nepal without a visa, while Anju legally traveled from India to Pakistan through the Wagah-Attari border.
Anju’s husband, Arvind, in Rajasthan, hopes for her swift return, unaware of her online connections. He revealed that she left on the pretext of going to Jaipur in the northern state of Rajasthan but later found out she was in Pakistan.
Anju holds a valid passport, issued in 2020 when she had aspirations of working abroad. Arvind expressed his intention to talk to her, urging her to return, hopeful that she will come back.
The situation has garnered attention, but Nasrulla and Anju’s friendship appears to be innocent, with her planned return to India in adherence to her visa conditions.
