INDIAN PRIME minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (17) expressed his admiration for Operation Ganga — the mission to evacuate Indian citizens from war-torn Ukraine — highlighting the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting its people in the face of daunting challenges. His remarks were in response to a tweet by History TV 18, promoting their new documentary titled “The Evacuation: Operation Ganga”.

The documentary sheds light on the events that unfolded on February 24, 2022, when thousands of Indians found themselves stranded in a volatile war zone in Ukraine. Just two days later, India initiated one of the largest air evacuations of the 21st century. A total of 90 special flights successfully evacuated more than 22,000 Indians and 147 foreign nationals from 18 different countries. The mission made history and showcased India’s resolute determination.

Modi, tagging the tweet, lauded Operation Ganga as a testament to the government’s firm resolve to support its citizens, irrespective of the challenges faced. He also emphasised the indomitable spirit of India. The Prime Minister suggested that the documentary, “The Evacuation: Operation Ganga,” would provide valuable insights into the operation and its various aspects.
