ACTOR Nithya Menen, who recently won the National Film Award for her role in “Thiruchitrambalam”, believes her work in Hindi cinema is still in its early stages.

Although she has appeared in films like “Mission Mangal” and the Hindi series “Breathe: Into the Shadows”, Menen feels there is much more she can explore in the industry.

“I feel like it’s just the tip of the iceberg that I’ve done now. There’s still so much that I can do, and I really hope it happens,” she said in an interview with PTI.

Menen, a polyglot who has worked in several languages including Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and English, said she is interested in projects that cross regional and linguistic boundaries.

She is open to working with directors who can tap into her potential as an actor. “I would love to collaborate with directors and writers who really see the potential in me and who are able to give me something that brings out my potential as an actor,” she said.

When asked about specific directors she admires, Menen named Vikramaditya Motwane, whose film “Lootera” she described as her all-time favourite. “I always consistently loved everything he made. He tells real stories. He tells them effectively, cinematically and brilliantly,” she added.

Reflecting on her varied career, Menen said that while her choices have sometimes drawn criticism, she remains committed to her own vision. “It shocked people and I got a lot of criticism. I got tagged as being arrogant and egoistic… but that ‘No’ was more from integrity. It was not from arrogance,” she explained.

Menen will next be seen in the romantic comedy “Kadhalikka Neramillai”, opposite Jayam Ravi, directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi.
