ACTOR Nayanthara has responded to a legal notice from Dhanush, who demanded ₹ 100 million (£937,968.90) in compensation for the alleged unauthorised use of clips from their 2015 film “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” in her upcoming Netflix documentary, “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale”.

In an open letter shared on Instagram, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of harbouring a personal grudge against her and her husband, Vignesh Shivan. She claimed that despite repeated requests for permission to include clips from the film, Dhanush refused to cooperate, forcing her team to re-edit the documentary.

“This Netflix documentary about me, my life, my love and marriage includes clips of many of my industry well-wishers who have graciously contributed and memories from multiple films, but sadly does not include the most special and important film, “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan”,” she wrote.

Nayanthara described the demand for ₹100 million for the use of a three-second snippet of songs from the film as a “low” move and expressed disappointment over the actions taken after the documentary’s trailer was released.

The documentary, premiering on November 18, coincides with her 40th birthday and delves into her journey, including her relationship with Shivan, which began during the making of “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan”. The film was produced by Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films.

Nayanthara highlighted the irony of the situation, noting that the movie, which marked a pivotal moment in her career and personal life, was being excluded due to ongoing disputes.
