MOHAMMAD Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, secretary general of the Muslim World League, who is currently in India on a five-day tour, on Friday (14) slammed terror outfits and expressed concerns over growing conflicts and wars across the globe.

Speaking to Asian News International, the Saudi Arabian Islamic scholar who has also served as the country’s justice minister in the past, said such organisations work on “distorting the images of religions” and added that “Islam and terrorism have nothing to do with each other”.

Al-Issa, who recently shared the stage with Indian national security adviser Ajit Doval at an event involving Muslim intelligentsia and clerics in New Delhi, and shared India’s unity and Muslim community, also visited the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in Delhi on Thursday (13) and sought peace and love amongst all, regardless of the conflicts and the reasons that cause them.

He said the terror outfits do not represent anyone except themselves and that they have no religion or country.

The Muslim World League chief also highlighted that Saudi Arabia has a strong way of combating such ideas.

He said the league is working actively to eradicate such ideological ideas, stressing the importance of addressing such ideas on an “ideological level to eliminate them from existence”.

After visiting the Akshardham Temple, Al-Issa expressed admiration for India, saying the country is a great example of unity in diversity and a place like Akshardham sums it up as a place of worship, full of love, peace and harmony.

During the visit to the temple that last three hours, the Muslim leader praised Akshardham’s art, architecture, culture and values. He acknowledged its significant contributions to the world and specifically desired to engage with the swamis to discuss matters related to global peace and harmony.

The league secretary general also expressed his delight in meeting Swami Brahmaviharidas, a prominent BAPS leader again, recalling their previous meeting in Saudi’s Riyadh in 2022.

Al-Issa also met prime minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday (12) and lauded the latter’s “passionate perspective” towards inclusive growth and said they agreed on the significance of working together to confront extremism and hatred, the source notwithstanding.
