Some police officers threw up after entering a house in a locality in the western Indian city of Mumbai to crack the mystery of a stench bothering the neighbours as they found human body parts scattered all over the living room and boiled and roasted flesh in the kitchen, NDTV reported.
In a revisit to the murder and chopping up of Shraddha Walkar, a woman in her late 20s in New Delhi last year, a 32-year-old woman has been allegedly killed by her live-in partner who has also been accused of chopping up the body into several pieces and also cooking them.
It was reported that the couple never spoke with their neighbours and remained largely secluded in their apartment building. The victim, Saraswati Vaidya met Manoj Sane, 24 year senior to her, at a local ration shop where he worked. Both came from Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, the police said, and bonded.
According to the NDTV report, Vaidya was a school dropout and lived in a shelter home with her sisters. She later decided to stay with Mane and told people at home that he was her maternal uncle who was wealthy.
The police stepped in after the neighbours complained about the smell and the reason was revealed on Wednesday (7) when officers broke into the couple’s house and discovered the horror.
Vaidya was allegedly murdered on Sunday (4).
It was learnt that Vaidya and Sane had fights as the latter suspected that she was cheating on him. The statements given by the accused to the police have not been consistent.
He first said that Vaidya committed suicide by consuming poison and he cut up her body out of panic as he wanted to get rid of it. He also said that the deceased woman was “like her daughter”.
Vaidya’s families were also questioned.
It has emerged that Sane allegedly bought a diesel-powered electric saw to cut up Vaidya’s body and is believed to have told the police that he got the idea from the Walkar murder case.
Afraid about the spreading smell, he reportedly sprayed room freshener and tried to boil and roast Vaidya’s body parts, believing it would make it easier to dispose of her remains. But Sane was eventually caught by the police after one of his neighbours raised an alarm.
